Project Title: Werable device

Date: 5 weeks

Size: 9.5 x 3 x 6 in

Medium: Silicone, and TPU on paper

Problem Statement: Design and produce a set of wearable devices for the body, which helps the person become more capable and more happy(stronger, faster, better, smarter…). The devices must augment and expand the user’s overall capabilities and experience, including but not limited to, physical, psychological, and social aspects of daily life or specialized situations.

Objective: To design the shoes that solves uncomfortness for a group of people who suffer from wearing typical shoes.

Skills: Maya, Grasshopper(Rhino), Keyshot

Shoes that are too tight can restrict blood flow and exacerbate swelling. Shoes made from stiff or non-breathable materials can constrict the feet and hinder circulation, leading to increased swelling(edema). Also, Shoes without adjustable features, such as laces or straps, may not provide a customizable fit, which can contribute to discomfort and exacerbate swelling. Ori-shoes consider these problems from conventional shoes.

Combining the characteristics of origami tessellation and shoes will provide maximum adjustability for feet. Miura folds’ expanding and shrinking motion will create a comfortable fit to swollen feet within silicone support for the shoes.
